IIICCD Research Institute

The Research Institute in Computational Intelligence and Data Science (IIICCD) is the faculty's research institute. Its mission is to generate scientific, technological and innovation research in computer science and data science that proposes solutions to society's problems, contributes to technological progress, and trains highly qualified research personnel.

It aims to become the reference for research in computational intelligence and data science in southern Peru, with indexed output, open data, and effective transfer of knowledge to the altiplano region.

It began with the founding act of 22 July 2022, signed by thirteen lecturers and seven students. Dean's Resolution N° 165-2022-FINESI-UNA, of 10 August 2022, approved it within the faculty; Rectoral Resolution N° 0526-2023-R-UNA, of 15 March 2023, approved the creation project; and University Assembly Resolution N° 003-2023-AU-UNA, of 28 March 2023, formally created it.

It brings together eleven research lines across three areas. In computer science: artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, complex algorithm development, and image processing. In data science: machine learning, data engineering and analytics, advanced stochastic models, and Bayesian statistics. In research: statistics applied to research, technological research and innovation, and research methodologies.

It is directed by Mg. Leonid Alemán Gonzales.
